Neuropathy has been used for decades to help people with depression, ADHD, anxiety, and other mental disorders. Clinical depression affects around 10.3 million adults in the United States as of 2016. The depression can last for weeks to even years. What causes clinical depression is not fully understood and it could be related to hormones, genetics, or brain chemistry. Traditional therapy for depression has included talk therapy and being prescribed antidepressants.

Neuropathy is also referred to as neurofeedback. People’s brain waves are electronically measured and this information is used to teach brain how to self-regulate. It works similar to an award system does. When the brain is operating within good parameters it is rewarded. This involves practice, repetition, and positive reinforcement. The goal is to reduce or entirely get rid of the brain activity that is undesirable.

Neurocore is a Grand Rapids, Michigan-based firm that uses neurofeedback to treat its customers. They were established in 2004 and now operates nine brain performance centers in that state as well as in Florida. Their specialties are qEEG Biofeedback Training, Attention Testing, Heart Rate Variability Training, neurofeedback, and Autonomic Nervous Systems Diagnostics and Regulation. They have helped everyone from children to professional basketball players have more effective brains.
On their Linkedin page, Neurocore recently offered four tips to have a healthier brain without relying on medications. They said that in the past mental decline was regarded as something that inevitably occurs to people as they get older. Nowadays the research shows that really isn’t the case. Everyone can help their brains by developing brain-healthy diet which means primarily eating a plant-based one. They say you should avoid things like white rice or bread and eat healthy fats which include olive oil instead of butter or margarine.
Neurocore also says that exercising benefits not just the body but also the brain. People should also challenge themselves by always learning new things which have been proven to lead to longer, healthier, happier lives.
Neurocore also says that socializing is critical when it comes to brain health. People who have great relationships with their family, friends, and community are less likely to develop depression as one benefit.
