Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Wesley began studying theater while in high school. During in junior year, he landed his first major role in the CBS daytime drama, “Guiding Light.” While a freshman at Rutgers University, he realized that he could make it as an actor, and decided to leave after one semester.
His intuition was right. Wesley has worked steadily for the past 15 years. Working in both film and television, Wesley has demonstrated his talents both in front of and behind the camera. His most famous role of Stefan Salvatore in the hit TV series, “The Vampire Diaries,” began in 2009 and lasted for 8 season. While on the show, Paul began to direct some episodes of the show. By the 8th season, he was producing the show.
Wesley is also no stranger to stage. He starred as the co-lead in the off-Broadway production of “Cal In Camo.” In the play, written by William Francis Hoffman, Wesley plays Flynt who is spending time with his sister, Cal and brother-in-law, Tim as he copes with his wife’s death. While together, the three look inwardly and try to discover who they are and what their purpose in life is. This is Wesley’s first time in a stage play.
Charity work is also a passion of Wesley. He has helped raise funds for the Humane Society of the United States., as well as Elton John’s AIDS Foundation. Wesley’s awards include two Teen Choice Awards and two Young Hollywood Awards.
